Are Dunks Comfortable To Walk In

With the popularity of Nike Dunks on the market as well as social media, “Are Dunks comfortable?” has become the inevitable question.

We all expect the reputation and the performance of the newest products to be on the same level. So what about Nike, the powerhouse of general sportswear? Can they live up to the fame they have built?

Are Dunks Comfortable?

The Dunk pair I bought is honestly not the most comfortable Nike shoes I have had, though it handles all-day activities just fine for me.

Compared to Air Force 1, it runs slightly narrower. But it fits larger than the Jordan 1.

However, I noticed a distinct difference between the various versions Dunk has.

For example, some Dunks are made with leather, hence they are expected to have the classic initial stiffness. If you give them some time, they will soften and feel more comfortable.

Are Nike Dunks Low Comfortable?

Regarding comfort, the Nike Dunk Low is good enough for me when I run errands. Its basic foam midsole did a good job of supporting my steps and reducing the impact of my quick movements.

However, it wouldn’t be my first choice if I am only trying to take a relaxing walk or walk a long way. The support isn’t enough to last all day long.

Are Nike Dunks High Comfortable?

It is personal, but I prefer how the high-top version of Dunks feels on my feet. The sense of security around my ankles was simply too good to ignore. Some people might find the high-top restrictive for movement, excluding me!

Unfortunately, it shares the same initial rigidness with other Dunks due to the standard padding, though I still have to give the designers my utmost admiration for the generous toe box. It allows my toes to maintain a natural position and prevents foot pain.

Are SB Dunks comfortable?

SB Dunks are as popular as Dunks, hence the curiosity about its comfort is no less, especially after the highly sought-after colorways that SB Dunks released.

Customers generally find SB Dunks much more rigid at first compared to Dunks and I figure it is because of the extra padding necessary for skateboarding.

They also contain more springs in the soles, hence you might feel the responsiveness, but not the comfort right off the bat.

If you are wearing SB Dunks for the purpose they have been created for, or are simply already familiar with skateboarding shoes, you will need a shorter break-in period.

However, once SB Dunks softened up, they started to feel better than regular Dunks for me, thanks to the heel being equipped with the Zoom Air pod and the front receiving more Poron foam.

I would go for SB Dunks when I’m ready for a long-term project or in need of footwear for landing and stomping impact.

How To Make Dunks More Comfortable?

In most cases, you will need to break your Dunks in properly before they can fully accommodate your feet and provide the comfort you want.

If you are on the same page as me in terms of being active, you might feel more comfortable than people who use Dunks for casual wear.

Additionally, these tips will help make the break-in process quicker or at least more tolerable for you.

Choose the next larger size

This trick won’t make your shoes softer, but it’s the simplest method to cope with the initial stiffness because you will have more room for thick socks or inserts.

The downside is that your foot width or shape might be an obstacle.

Wear your Dunks frequently

The more you wear them, the faster they soften, though you shouldn’t push yourself too hard either.

If you feel pain, give your feet a break or add more padding instead of ignoring protests from your body.

Try a shoe stretcher

It is sure to work, though its effect is not immediate and your shoes might endure some damage.

Be patient and stretch the shoes a little bit every day, so the shape and the materials won’t change beyond repair.

Conclusion

In my opinion, all Nike Dunks are comfortable even though they have to go through a break-in period, especially the versions consisting of more leather.

If you are ready to invest in a long-term project or engage in more activities than casual users, SB Dunks is generally more comfortable than regular Dunks with innovative technologies and design features.
